Kindness

We visited Gramps at the U of A hospital this week as he was recovering from a surgery for a fractured femur. As he reeled off a list of the 5 visitors so far that morning, his sharp mental acuity became apparent, a refreshing contrast to the fatigue showing on his 90 year old frame.

It was obvious during our visit that he was receiving excellent care and that all of the workers seemed genuinely happy to be helping.

Gramps was repeatedly praising the quality of his treatment with comments such as:

“I have such great help here!”,

“This is such a good place”,

“These are such good people”

“Thank you so much”

His polite appreciation was heartfelt, and given freely, and the people assisting him mirrored this same kindness.

I was reminded of the words one of his Vegreville caregivers had previously shared.

“We all love Jerry, he is so kind”.

The world around us becomes so easy when we act with gratitude, compassion, and positivity.

What you put out, will always return.

  • Now that’s a peak ethos.
