Dream Big
It was a momental weekend in our household as two years of labour yielded the first shipment of our sleepwear company, NOD Sleepwear.
Though we had shopped for years to find comfortable pyjamas, (Christmas and birthdays) it seemed that no matter the price, the products were often uncomfortable, with the front and back seam always ‘riding up’ during the night.
It was this ‘problem’ that led Karina to embark on a two year journey to redesign comfortable women’s sleepwear in the fight against the ‘night-time wedgie’.
Beautiful, soft, pre-shrunk, non-pilling, healthy, affordable, were a few of the many demands of our new endeavour.
Multiple iterations, over many months, with a design team from Vancouver yielded our innovative design of ‘reimagined sleepwear’.
A production team from Portugal continued the iterative process, blending specific fabrics, dying the perfect colours, and finalizing packaging, sizing, labelling and more.
It became obvious during this period of time that the creation of a new product is a challenge that most people would not have the patience nor resources to pursue.
It is likely that the challenge is also the reason why the reward for this pursuit is so great, and why having thousands of dollars of landed inventory is more exciting than terrifying.
Here is to new challenges,
to dreaming big and trying new things,
to the fun of a new venture
and to better sleep for the masses.
I tip my hat to Karina and NOD Sleepwear, for the courage to tackle a challenge worthy adventure.
Now that’s a peak ethos.
