Abundance

Hazel and Olive, as usual, scored big this Halloween. After just two hours of trick-or-treating, they accrued more candy than anyone should reasonably eat in a year.

Despite a plethora of kids swarming doorsteps, there was never a shortage of treats for any of the goblins, princesses, or superheros.

Trick-or-treating is a beautiful little snapshot of abundance - ‘more than enough for everyone’.

Reflecting on this, I’ve realized how rare this mindset of abundance can be. Too often people operate with scarcity, holding onto the idea that if someone else “wins,” they might “lose.”

Life is generally not a zero sum game. There’s always more good work to do, more problems to solve, and more people to help.

Operating from abundance means understanding that each success doesn’t detract from others.

There’s no need to guard your candy stash, because just like Halloween night, there’s more than enough to go around.

  • Now that’s a peak ethos
